Gerardo Mendoza is Managing Director at Colony Capital, Inc. and Managing Partner of Colony Latam Partners. Mr. Mendoza has over 14 years of private equity and investment banking experience. Mr. Mendoza is responsible for sourcing, executing and monitoring the group’s investments across Latin America, including managing the group’s investments in Colombia. Mr. Mendoza currently sits on the Board of QBCo and Summum in Colombia, on the Board of CasaIdeas in Chile and on the Board of Urbano Express in Peru.
Prior to joining the Colony Capital business, Mr. Mendoza worked on The Abraaj Group’s investment team in Mexico. Before joining The Abraaj Group in 2013, Mr. Mendoza worked as the Head of New Product Development at Prudential Real Estate Investors Latin America (“PREI”, now PGIM), where he was responsible for the development, structuring and marketing of two real estate funds in Mexico. Prior to this, Mr. Mendoza was an Associate Director at PREI´s Transactions Group, where he was in charge of sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and closing private equity real estate transactions in Mexico. Prior to PREI, Mr. Mendoza was an investment-banking analyst at Evercore Partners, Inc., where he analyzed and structured projects in the energy industry in Mexico. He started his career as a risk management analyst at the Mexican National Bank of Infrastructure and Public Works ("Banobras”).
Mr. Mendoza is a co-lecturer of Private Equity at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
Mr. Mendoza has been an active mentor at Endeavor since 2008 and is the former President of Net Impact´s Mexican chapter.
Mr. Mendoza holds an MBA degree from Stanford University´s Graduate School of Business and a BA degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, where he co-authored a dissertation thesis titled “Determinants of Private Equity and Venture Capital Fundraising in Latin America”.
